BIT HIT 04/07/2007 * More Mirror Money Dear BIZ I HAVE invented a drilling guide to hold diamond cores steady on bathroom tiles. My company is called 365 drills (www.365drills.com). We are selling our kits through eBay and tile shops, but could do with a bit of advice on promoting my product to the masses - DIY enthusiasts, professional tilers and those in the trade. BIZ Says: WELL done for getting to the final stage of your product development. We know it's a hard slog and takes lots of determination. You really need to try and get your product into the DIY sheds to get the big sales. Get in touch with each and find out how they like to be approached by potential new suppliers. Once you are on the shelves of these establishments you will have the exposure you need to let the world know you exist. We know this is not an easy task either but with persistence, patience and total belief in your product you can get there. Get in touch with the editors of homes and DIY magazines and newspapers with dedicated homes sections. Try and persuade them to do a feature on your product. These types of publications are always telling readers about great new gadgets to help make those DIY jobs easier. Also do the same with some of the trade publications for the decorating and building industry. You could try and set up reader offers with publications, this will also give you excellent coverage of your product. And contact as many tile specialists as you can such as Fired Earth and H & R Johnson, to see if you can persuade them to stock your product alongside their tiles.
